4 million quintals of wheat has been imported to stabilize inflation
Addis Ababa: November 2, 2021 (MOTI) - The Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce said it has imported 4 million quintals of 8 million quintals of wheat in the first round to stabilize inflation.
An additional 4 million quintals of wheat will be imported in the next 15 days, said the corporation's chief executive, Acha Demissie.
He said the product will be distributed in five corporation centers in Adama, Shashemene, Bahir Dar, Dire Dawa and Addis Ababa.
He said the distribution will take place in the next 15 days and a committee will be set up to monitor the progress.
He said 11 billion birr worth of wheat production will play a significant role in alleviating inflation and flour shortages in bakeries.
He also said that it would help the poor to fight the economic war in the country.
According to ENA, the corporation is working with partners to provide oil to the public at an affordable price.
